Richard the younger son was given interests including knights' fees in
Catton, Stamford Bridge, the city of York, and in Ludford Lincolnshire
and he as did his elder brother took on their mother's name.
In 1204 Richard de Percy was confirmed by the Sheriff of Yorkshire all
the land in the bailiwick which his Mother had and that which the
countess Maude his aunt held in the Chester fee. In 1205 the King
confirmed to Sixle Priory the Manor of Ludford.
These divisions of the Percy inheritance led to several years of
disputes between Richard and his brother's son William. Richard managed
to maintain possession of his share until his death but it did not pass
to his own son Henry to whom however he had granted the manor 'de Bello
Alneto' and the will of Settle in Yorkshire but to his nephew William!
Richard built a chapel in the churchyard at Topcliffe and was of the
Barons appointed to enforce the provisions of the Magna Carta and was
among those whose excommunication by the Pope was procured by the King
in 1216. In the same year he was one of the Yorkshire Barons who
subdued that county on behalf of the King of France and on May 11 1217
the King ordered the seizing of all his land to be given to his nephew
William. But his allegiance returned to the King and restoration was
ordered and he became a justice at York.
He married 1stly Alice and 2ndly Agnes daughter of Neville of Raby. Two
sons Henry and Alexander were born as was a daughter Alicia de Percy.
Richard died in 1244 and was buried in Fountains Abbey. His son Henry

Isaac apparently traveled from Virginia to Missouri where he lived for
some time, and thence to Iowa.
rom "The Pioneers of Mills County":
Meadows. Isaac, farmer and stock raiser, P.O. Glenwood; was born March
13, 1813, in Washington county, Virginia, where he resided until
mature. His youth was passed in agricultural pursuits, and hence his
education was limited to the common school. In 1835 he moved to Saline
county, Missouri, where he remained until 1853, when he became
identified with Mills county interests as a resident farmer. He was
married in 1842 to Miss Rhoda Warren, a native of Tennessee. His first
wife to whom he was married in 1835, was Miss Frances Cooper, who died
in the year following. As the fruit of his second union there were born
to him nine children, six sons and three daughters: Harvey, Nathaniel,
Benjamin J., William, George, Sarah, Gilla A., Belle and Joel. p. 669

he foregoing is clearly in error on a number of points.
See notes accompanying Rhoda Granger Warren
he children listed are from the handwritten family tree composed by
Doris Caldwell Meadows.
ay Sivers Weston writes:
"As I was reading over some of the material, I seemed to remember that I
had a copy of an obituary for Isaac, and I found it. It's a copy of a
copy, so not very clear. It was in a book that belonged to my
Grandmother
Sivers. I don't think I'll try to scan it, but instead will transcribe
it
below. Unfortunately, there are no notations as to the date of the
obituary or the source, though I would guess it originated in a Florida
newspaper, near or in Anthony, because it just says he died in Anthony,
as
if the reader would know where that was. Perhaps you could write to the
library in Anthony to see if they would have a copy of the obituary.
nyway, it reads:
t the Ripe old age of 88 years he Lays Down the Burden of Life
Yesterday evening, Mr. Isaac Meadows, of Anthony, died at the ripe
old age of 88 years.
The cause of Mr. Meadow's death was a grippe.
Deceased was born in Virginia in 1802, went to Missouri when a lad,
where
he lived until 1853, when he removed to the state of Iowa, residing
there
until 1882, when he came to Florida with his family, consisting of ten
children, six boys and four girls. He made his home at Anthony, where
he
became a highly respected and esteemed citizen.
Mr. Meadows had been a faithful and consistant member of the
Methodist church for 65 years, and let his light so shine that all men
could see his good works.
Deceased was a farmer by occupation, which calling he successfully
followed, always performing the work set before him in a manner that
showed what a good husbandman he was.
Besides a well spent, exemplary and blameless life as a legacy to his
fellowmen, he died with the satisfaction of knowing that his children
had
all grown up to be good and desirable citizens.
Peace to his ashes.

15 September 1816 to Joel Meadows and Hannah Porter. He was the eighth
child of twelve, his brothers and sisters were David, Polly, Joel Jr,

When Samuel was about fifteen his mother died and his father married
Elizabeth Brown. Samuel's half brothers and sisters were Rebecca,
Frances, Louisa, Newland, Abner, Elizabeth, John and reportedly,

with their new mother so Joel, Miles, Samuel, Isaac and Lucy moved to
Missouri.
