Henry of Huntingdon gave Stonehenge what is sometimes referred to as
its first reference in English literature. He listed Stonehenge as the
second of his four wonders of Britatin in his "Historia Anglorum",
(1154).
Henry borrowed some of his information from the writings of Geoffrey of
Monmouth's "Historia Regum Britanniae." (Geoffrey 1100-1154). The
original of this work is lost, but it was abridged and edited by Alfred
of Beverley and published as "Historia de Gestis Regum Britanniae.
