(5) Rachel Meador is named in her father's will as the wife
of Ambrose Armstrong, but seems to have died soon
thereafter. When Armstrong died 10 years later, the widow
who appeared in court and renounced her right of
administration was Elizabeth . His will did not name his
wife, only a son Thomas Armstrong and "five young children".
It would appear that Thomas could have been a son of Rachel,
his first wife, and the younger children a product of the
second marriage, but this is speculation. However, one
daughter of Ambrose, Rachel, was named in the will of
Frances, the wife of (5) William Meador, in 1770 . It
would seem reasonable to presume that she, too, was a
daughter of (5) Rachel Mead
