When her father King Sigebert of Metz died, Ingund was banished to
Meaux. She then went in 597, to Spain to marry Hermangild, the eldest
son of the King. The queen, second wife of King Goiswinth, who was
not only her step-mother-in-law, but also her maternal grandmother,
maltreated her because of her Catholic faith, but Ingund did not
convert to Arianism. In fact, she succeeded in converting her husband
to Catholicism. In 585 the King of Spain defeated and killed his son
Hermangild, still strong in his new faith. King Leuvigild then left
Ingund in the hands of the Eastern Emperoro, Tiberius II. As she was
thought to be still alive in AFrica, her mother, Queen Brunhild, on the
interest of her son, King Childebert II of Austrasia, sought to find
her and bring her to the Frankish court. She died in Africa shortly
after
